Welcome to the website of the Havana Silk Dog Association of America, the National Parent Club of the Havana Silk Dog breed.
We're a group of breeders and owners who all agree that Cuba managed to develop a terrific little dog - silky, straight-legged, healthy, and totally charming - over the last 300 years, and we are totally committed to protecting and preserving it in its original Cuban form wherever the winds of fate may have caused it to land over the years.

The HSDAA is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a not-for-profit organization, and currently serves nearly two hundred members representing virtually every area of the US and several foreign countries.
And just who ARE these people, you may wonder?
We're glad you asked! The HSDAA membership roster includes no less than THREE past presidents of the Havanese Club of America, two of its former Recording Secretaries, one former Corresponding Secretary, several former Vice-presidents and Directors, and immediate past chairs of the HCA Judges' Education, Buyers' Education, Health, Show Events, Local Clubs, Cuban Relief, Placement and Rescue, and Bylaws Committees, as well as all of the Directors of HEART, the Havanese breed's independent 501(c)3 Health Foundation, past National Specialty chairs, the former HCA Registrar and HCA Breeder Referral Coordinator, the OFA/CHIC Liaison, two past newsletter editors, former AKC Legislative Liaison, former HCA webmaster, the longtime Havanese breed columnist for the AKC Gazette, and a partridge in a pear tree.
So, although the HSDAA is a relatively new organization, its members have many years of combined dog club experience in many different breeds to contribute to this new adventure.
The HSDAA sends its official club publication, the glossy full-color magazine Silk Road, by first-class mail to every member at no charge.
Please feel free to look around! The HSDAA welcomes everyone who shares our passion for this wonderful and ancient little breed, and our genuine concern for its future health and well-being.

Welcome judges!
HSDAA has received a tremendous amount of interest in the Havana Silk Dog from AKC judges in the past few weeks, and we truly appreciate your interest in and support for this new endeavor.
We especially encourage you to check out our innovative system for awarding championships- it's explained on the HSDAA Championships page.
Those of you who've judged in Europe will notice right away that it incorporates the best of both the European and American methods, with an added twist all our own - we had a lot of fun putting it together! Feel free to contact us if you think you'd like to "try your hand" at judging under this system...!
And be sure to check out our Upcoming Shows page as well- we are currently planning shows in various parts of the US, and Judges' Education will be available at all of them.
