Local Clubs for Havana Silk Dog owners (and their dogs!) are springing up all over the country. People are getting together, having picnics and "playdates" for their dogs, and planning local Silk events.
Knowing others in your area with Silks has lots of advantages. For example, some owners have found they can trade "dog-sitting" with other nearby Silk owners when they have to go out of town, rather than having to find a suitable boarding kennel for their dog. (And who else besides another Silk owner will truly understand your Silk?) Just getting the dogs together for playdates every month or two is a lot of fun for both dogs and owners.
First-time owners can find help and support locally for the many questions that come up while raising a Silk puppy from others who've "been there, done that". Everything from finding a good vet in your area to a good puppy kindergarten or dog park are things that other owners in your area can help you with.

Tidewater Area of Virginia:

In addition to social get-togethers, HSDAA is willing to send an evaluator to New England for a Fiesta (a small, local show) and/or a Specialty if there is enough interest inholdong the event. Looks like there are a number of Silks up that way!
Central Florida:
As well as some picnics and informal get-togethers, the Silk folks in this part of the country have a Specialty Show every winter, and there's lots of interest from those in the snowy North in attending!
