               Local Clubs

Local Clubs for Havana Silk Dog owners (and their dogs!) are starting to spring up all over the country. People are getting together, having picnics and "playdays" for their dogs, and planning events.
Knowing others in your area with Silks has lots of advantages. For example, some owners have found they can trade "dog-sitting" with other nearby Silk owners when they have to go out of town, rather than having to find a suitable boarding kennel for their dog. (And who else besides another Silk owner truly understands the weird eating patterns of this breed?) Just getting the dogs together for playdays every month or two is a lot of fun for both dogs and owners.
And first-time owners can find help and support locally for the many questions that come up while raising a Silk puppy from others who've "been there, done that". Everything from finding a good vet in your area to a good puppy kindergarten or dog park are things that other owners in your area can help you with.

Owners in the following areas are currently in the process of organizing - a contact person is listed for each area, and anyone interested in getting involved is welcome!

Tidewater Area of Virginia:
This is for people in the VA Beach and surrounding areas. Contact Ann at acarille@cox.net for more information. These guys have been hosting the HSDAA National Specialties.

New England Area:
Contact Elinor Horner at Elinor@Ehorner.com or Carol Kehoe at MagicLady@aol.com  if you are interested in getting together and planning (as well as attending!) some events. Carol and Elinor are both in Massachusetts.  Elinor, near Boston, Carol on the North Shore.
In addition to social get-togethers, HSDAA is willing to send an evaluator up to New England for a Fiesta and/or a Specialty if there is enough interest in organizing one- looks like there are a bunch of Silks up that way!

Central Florida
As well as some picnics and informal get-togethers, the Silk folks in this part of the country are planning a Specialty in February, and there's lots of interest from those in the snowy North in attending! If you'd like to be part of the fun,  please contact Greg at gsteinig@verizon.net. (This is a pretty relaxed group...must have something to do with the weather!)

Ohio/Michigan:
The Silk owners in this part of the country are busy planning a Specialty in May. Anyone wishing to join them is welcome to contact Beth at havanese@buckeye-express.com .

Chicagoland Area:
Silk owners from IL and surrounding states who are interested in planning get-togethers for dogs and their owners in that area should contact Margie at erashavanese@comcast.net .

Texas:
